NovellaMate at the LA Times Festival of Books 2026

Two Inspiring Days Connecting with Readers, Gift Shoppers, and Literary Minds in Los Angeles

We’ve just returned from an unforgettable weekend at the LA Times Festival of Books 2026, one of the most celebrated literary events in the United States. Held in Los Angeles and filled with readers, authors, publishers, educators, and book lovers from every background, the festival was the perfect place for NovellaMate to meet our community in person.

For two full days, we showcased NovellaMate — the unique Author Quote Clock for Book Lovers — and welcomed hundreds of curious visitors to our booth.

A Booth Built for Readers

We designed our space to feel warm, literary, and inviting: vintage books, floral details, elegant displays, and of course, live demonstrations of NovellaMate in action.

Many attendees were drawn in first by the aesthetic. But once they saw the device display beautiful literary quotes that changed with the time, their reactions quickly turned into surprise, delight, and conversation.

People often stopped and said things like:

  • “What a cool idea.”

  • “I’ve never seen anything like this.”

  • “This would be perfect for my mom.”

  • “Such a thoughtful gift for readers.”

For us, that confirmed something important: NovellaMate is immediately understandable once people experience it in person.

What We Learned from Real Visitors

Over the two-day event, we spoke with a wide variety of attendees: students, parents, retirees, couples, teachers, collectors, and lifelong readers.

Several patterns became very clear.

1. Book Lovers Instantly Connected with the Concept

Readers and literature fans were especially drawn to the product. Many carefully browsed our sample bookmarks, discussed favorite authors, and asked thoughtful questions about quotes, content sources, and literary themes.

Some visitors even recognized specific authors from our materials and became visibly excited.

2. NovellaMate Resonates Strongly as a Gift

A large number of visitors immediately framed the product as a gift:

  • for mothers

  • for birthdays

  • for partners

  • for graduates

  • for book-loving friends

One attendee specifically said she was considering it for her mother. Another mentioned purchasing something similar before as a gift for a family member.

This reinforces what many of our customers already tell us: NovellaMate is not just a device — it’s a meaningful gift.

3. Personalization Matters

Many people asked whether the experience could be customized:

  • Can I choose favorite authors?

  • Can I personalize messages?

  • Can I curate quotes?

  • Can it be gifted with something personal?

These conversations were incredibly valuable because personalization is already a major direction for us. We’re continuing to build features that make NovellaMate feel even more personal and giftable.

4. Younger Visitors Were More Likely to Engage Digitally

We also noticed that younger and middle-aged attendees were more likely to scan our Instagram and follow online, while older visitors preferred in-person conversation and printed materials.

That helps us better understand how different audiences discover and engage with NovellaMate.

Valuable Market Feedback

Trade shows are not only about showcasing products — they are about learning.

Visitors gave us thoughtful feedback on:

  • pricing expectations

  • gifting behavior

  • language expansion opportunities

  • battery vs plug-in preferences

  • content customization

  • retail presentation

  • future collaborations

We even met people who suggested opportunities in Spanish-speaking markets, educational spaces, museums, and specialty gifting channels.

These insights are incredibly valuable as we continue growing NovellaMate.

Why This Event Mattered to Us

As a young brand, it’s easy to rely only on online metrics: clicks, views, ads, and conversions.

But nothing replaces standing face-to-face with real people and hearing their authentic reactions.

At the Festival of Books, we saw people smile, laugh, pause, ask questions, take photos, and imagine NovellaMate in their homes or as gifts for loved ones.

That human response matters more than any dashboard.

Thank You, Los Angeles

We’re grateful to the LA Times Festival of Books for hosting such an inspiring event, and to every visitor who stopped by Booth 229 to say hello.

Whether you followed us online, took a bookmark, asked a question, or simply shared a smile — thank you.

We came home energized, clearer about our future, and more convinced than ever that there is a place in the world for products that celebrate reading, beauty, and meaningful time.

What’s Next

We’re already working on:
